With the 13th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting and the 67th APEC Tourism Working Group Meeting being held in Macao this year, the 14th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) will tell China’s story well and effectively showcase Macao’s diverse cultures, riding on the APEC theme. Travel agency exhibitors will launch "APEC Multi-Destination Itineraries" while unveiling and selling related travel products. A "MITE X APEC Stamp Passport" campaign will also be launched, offering visitors a free passport to collect stamps at booths representing APEC member economies. Collecting a designated number of stamps will enter visitors into a lucky draw, thus adding fun to the event. Additionally, the Foodie Market, The Cellar, and the Coffee Station will be integrated into an "Asia‑Pacific Gastronomy Showcase", presenting and selling signature Asian-Pacific cuisine and beverages.
To harness the strengths of the Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao’s role as a "precise connector", the national pavilions of Portugal and Spain will continue to be featured at the MITE. In collaboration with the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), a "Promotion of China, Spain and Portugal Tourism Products – Corporate Session" will be held. Building on Macao’s inclusion in the "Global Muslim Travel Index", this edition of the MITE will further upgrade the "Silk Road • Halal Products Pavilion" and arrange visits for hosted buyers to experience Macao’s Muslim-friendly facilities. A "Muslim Tourism Opportunities Salon" will also be held to explore in depth the potential of the halal market, share success stories, and jointly tap into new opportunities in the tourism market.
A "Tourism Tech Pavilion" will be established to bring together a number of technology enterprises, including Amap, iFLYTEK, and CTM, to showcase and sell state-of-the-art tourism products and services. A "Low-Altitude Economy Pavilion" will also be set up where enterprises engaged in the low-altitude economy such as DJI and Yihang will showcase innovative applications in urban air mobility and low-altitude tourism. In terms of smart experiences, the official MITE website will feature a live chat function. In a pioneering move, the expo will launch a robot new media matrix, where robots will conduct livestreamed promotions together with overseas influencers, creating a new model of the cross-sector integration of "technology + humanities".
For the first time, the Islands Healthcare Complex – Macao Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital will participate with a custom-designed pavilion displaying high-end healthcare equipment, such as skin and body composition analyzers, highlighting its innovative capabilities in smart healthcare. Big health enterprises from Macao and Hengqin, including the Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Experience Hall in Hengqin, the Pien Tze Huang Museum, and Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings, will also participate in the event, to contribute to Macao’s appropriate economic diversification. Moreover, the Macao University of Tourism will collaborate with the China Tourism Academy (Data Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism) to host the 2026 High-level Forum on Greater Bay Area (GBA) Tourism Development to explore new opportunities in the silver economy. A "Macao‑Hengqin Wellness Traveller Forum" will be held in Hengqin in collaboration with the Economic Development Bureau of Hengqin using the "multi-venue events" model. The expo will also release a traveler’s guide and arrange for buyers to visit healthcare and well-being organizations in Macao and Hengqin, in a bid to promote industrial cooperation and resource sharing in tourism and big health.
To appeal to Gen Z, this year’s MITE will debut a "Culture and Creativity Hub", showcasing various local creative IPs, including Whatelephant, Yunana & Meow, and João & MAYA. A series of workshops designed specifically for Gen Z will be launched, including trendy incense-making and DIY scented tablet workshops. Local illustrator YCC will create portrait sketches on-site to foster a deeper cultural connection with young customers. Furthermore, Macao’s tourism mascot, Mak Mak, will get a major makeover with the grand launch of the Mak Mak IP licensing program. Enterprises will be encouraged to develop diverse products and experiences, in order to promote local tourism and culture while creating new business opportunities. A "Mak Mak & Friends" photo installation will be set up in the "Culture and Creativity Hub" to showcase Mak Mak’s many looks and sell licensed merchandise. There will also be a retrospective of past collaborations tracing Mak Mak’s growth journey.
